IndiaNewss.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a multilingual online news portal operated by Indian News Portal Trust (the “Operator”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit www.indianewss.com (the “Website”), how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). By using the Website you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Information you give us: when you fill in the donation acknowledgement form or contact us, we collect your name, phone number, email address, donation amount, transaction reference and any message you choose to write.
- Information collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language preference, pages viewed, time spent and referring pages, collected through server logs and cookies.
- Payments: we do not accept card payments and do not collect or store card numbers, PINs, passwords or UPI PINs. Donations are made directly by you through your own bank or UPI app; we only receive the details you voluntarily submit in the acknowledgement form.
2. How we use your information
- to acknowledge and record donations and to send receipts or thank-you messages;
- to respond to your enquiries, requests and complaints;
- to operate, secure, analyse and improve the Website, including language and content preferences;
- to prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents; and
- to comply with legal obligations and lawful requests of authorities.
We process personal data only with your consent or for the “legitimate uses” permitted by the DPDP Act (for example, where you voluntarily provide data for a stated purpose, or where the law requires). We do not sell your personal data.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Website working, remember your language, measure traffic and protect forms against misuse. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work properly. Pages that embed third-party content, such as YouTube live streams, may cause that provider to set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
4. Sharing of information
We share personal data only with (a) service providers who host, secure or support the Website under confidentiality obligations; (b) banks or payment institutions, where needed to verify a donation; and (c) courts, regulators or law-enforcement agencies where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public. We do not rent or sell your data to advertisers.
5. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet accounting, tax and legal requirements, or to resolve disputes. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted administrator access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach affecting you occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to: give you a summary of the personal data we hold and how it is used; correct or complete inaccurate data; erase data that is no longer needed; withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect past lawful processing); and have your grievance resolved. You may also nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated. To exercise any right, write to the Grievance Officer below. We will respond within the time prescribed by law.
8. Children
The Website is not directed at children under 18 years. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children without verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian. If you believe a child has given us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Third-party links
The Website may link to other websites and social media pages. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read their policies.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version. Continued use of the Website after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
